DUE: No later than: November 22 POINTS: Up to 10 LENGTH: five pages (about 1,200 words) Get a book approved by one of us. THEN: (YOU MUST HAVE THE BOOK APPROVED BY ONE OF US; IF YOU DO NOT, IT WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED) Briefly summarize the main theme(s), or else some set of ideas that struck YOU as important. Then, drawing from any chapter in the Schaefer text, critique the book using some set of ideas, themes, theories, or issues. (REMEMBER: A book critique IS NOT a book report) In the bulk of the paper (about two-thirds to three-fourths), discuss how the book your chose provides insights into the social world that we might not have had if we had not read the work. In short: What did YOU get out of the book that's relevant to sociology or that helps us understand things better?
