TOUGH GUISE
POINTS: Up to 10
DUE: Tuesday, Nov 20 at classtime

This extra credit CAN BE USED TO MOVE PEOPLE FROM A B TO AN A.
(NOTE: It is the ONLY extra credit that can do this).

In about 3 strong pages (about 700-800 words), discuss fully:

Our text defines sexism as "the subordination of one sex,
usually female, based on the assumed superiority of the other sex."
The text adds that sexism has three components:

   a) negative attitudes toward women
   b) Stereotypical beliefs that reinforce, complement, or
      justify prejudice
   c) discrimination--acts that exclude, distance, or keep women
      separate

Go back and review the chapter on socialization in the text. Drawing
from your experiences at NIU, illustrate how the themes in TOUGH GUISE
are reproduc or reinforce sexism through socialization in college.
