Sociology 377a - Sociological Inquiry - Fall, 2012

This courses addresses the ethics, construction, logic, application, 
and writing of fieldwork. Drawing primarily from ethnographic 
multi-methods, we will examine documentary, historical, participation 
observation, and qualitative interviewing as tools for developing 
"grounded theory."

Designed in part as an experimental course, we will attempt to use
students' own tools (smart phones, digital cameras, digital tape
recorders) to gather, organize, and analyze our data.
