SYLLABUS: SOCI 386/781--PEACE AND SOCIAL JUSTICE (ONLINE) Students may come to either location, regardless of the session they're signed up for. NIU/Dekalb campus 9 to 11:30 a.m. Psych-Computer Science Bldg: 203 Hoffman Estates 2 to 5 p.m. (room is usually posted by the front door on class day) Meeting 1: Saturday, June 13 Meeting 2: Saturday, July 11 Meeting 3: Saturday, August8 Attendance is mandatory. The course will be based primarily on class readings and exercises organized around thematic modules. Each module will include assigned texts, interactive and other exercises, and online games. We will also have a discussion component on WebBoard. GRADING Grading is organized around a "banking system," which means that points are accumulated and "stored." This means that if somebody gets a 30 (of 100) on an exam (a low F), they can make up the points if they score more on assignments or in other areas.
