SUPPLEMENTAL CREDIT is *NOT* "extra credit." Supplemental credit are points that can be applied toward a final grade of A. Obviously, there won't be many opportunities offered, they will require more work than extra credit, and the quality must be high. (NOTE: Supplemental credit can also be used for extra credit). Remember: Supplemental credit IS NOT an entitlement! Grading is NOT on a traditional scale. It's intended for students to demonstrate they can do A work. So, to receive much credit, the paper must be in the A range. For example: If a supplemental assignment is worth 20 points, --15 to 20 points for a perfect paper (or near perfect paper) --5-10 points for papers in the B range --1 to 5 points for C/D/F papers Why this grading? Because you must WORK for an A to earn an A. Here on some tips on how to write a Book Critique
