MOVIE/TV IMAGES OF PRISONS & PRISONERS

The purpose of the first paper is to examine how prisons and 
prisoners are portrayed in movies and television.  You are to look at
Look at about 5 movies/tv shows and the address the following:

1) Which issues seem to be currently important (e.g., fiscal
problems, violence, prison conditions)

2) How are prisoners and staff portrayed? Are there "good guys" and
bad guys?

3) Are policy resolutions are suggested?  How do resolutions differ
from current policy?  What obstacles (e.g., social, ethical,
fiscal, organizational) can you identify to implementing these
policies.

4) Do the depictions of prison differ from what you yourself have
seen and experienced in prison this semester?
