ONLINE Delinquency Debate 1999

DUE: Begins July 19, ends WEDS JULY 28
POINTS: UP TO 40 for debaters
         UP TO 15 for attendees

This assignment includes two types of points: Those who engage in an
online debate on WebBoard.

The rest of the class will receive points based on articulate responses
to the debates.

Here's how it works:
1. The debates will address any one of the THESE QUESTIONS.

2. Teams will consist of two people, and one team will aruge the negative,
   the other the affirmative.

3. One team will put up a brief argument (or url to their argument if
they don't wish to type it out on WebBoard). If the material is longer
than 150 words, or so, then perhaps just making a link to the
material is fine. See me if you don't know how to do this.

4. The second team will put up its argument at about the same time.

5. Each team then may respond to the others arguments for a day or two.
This should be done thoughtfully and *as a team.*

6. After a few days, the entire class may participate with THOUGHTFUL
comments that reflect class material and what we've learned.

If you wish to be one of the debaters, do one of the following:

    1) Organize an issue and the two teams and let me know
    2) Tell me you want to participate and I'll organize the teams
(the issues, though, are your own choice).

You should begin immediately. If you want a special private conference
on WebBoard to communicate with your partner(s) and the other team to
coordinate your presentations, let me know. Otherwise, you can communicate
by email.
