The beginning of the course is going up HERE If you are officially enrolled in the class, send EMAIL to let me know at: jthomas@sun.soci.niu.edu The book for the course: Regoli and Hewitt: DELINQUENCY IN SOCIETY (5th edition) (Available from The NIU bookstore They will mail it to you) The class will meet at least twice at NIU-Hoffman Estates to deal with f2f issues (from 6:30 to 9:15 pm) January 28 ("Getting to know you") May 5 (Class presentations) The exact format will be up by about January 1. But, here is the gist: 1) WEBBOARD (we will use WebBoard at: http://www.clas.niu.edu:88/~jthomas2 NOTE: It is currently being used by Soci 170, so will not be available until about December 15 and the current names/topics are deleted 2) We will schedule a few NON-REQUIRED (but recommended) fieldtrips 3) There will be ONE exam (mid-term), format to be decided 4) The "final" will be class presentations, on May 5 in Hoffman Estates, in groups of about four (on broad topics, such as "theories" or "justice system" and then the people in those topics will chose an issue) 5) We'll do lots of WebBoard discussion, maybe some pop quizzes to make sure everybody's reading, a few exercises, and some online/real-time games, and maybe some internet "treasure hunts."
