NET Treasure Hunts

Part of the fun of the net is finding little treasures of information.
Here, you will find occasional quests that are worth up to
five points each. Send them to me email or give them to me hard copy
in class. Remember: You MUST give the sources of the information for
full credit.

These are EXTRA CREDIT. I will put up one or two every week or so.

<> Quest #7 (due Feb 10) - When was the first juvenile correctional
   facility built and where? (3 points)

<> Quest #6 (due Feb 7) -  In May, 1999, Senator Joseph Biden introduced
   the Juvenile Crime Prevention Bill (S-993). What is the current
   status of this bill?  (3 points)

<> Quest #5 (due Feb 7) - Do the following candidates support or
   oppose the death penalty? a) Jesse Ventura  b) Al Gore
   c) Bill Bradley d) George Bush (the younger) e) Gary Bauer
   (one point each)

<> Quest #4 (due January 26) - Find the "official" homepages
   for five U.S. political parties. In a few sentences each, summarize
   what each party stands for. (5 points)

<> Quest #3 (due January 26) - Somewhere on the Net you can
   find at least 5 major newspapers that serve metropolitan
   areas of 1 million or more. Find the URLs for at least five.
  (NOTE: You MAY NOT use Chicago, New York, or Los Angeles).
   (3 points)

<> Quest #2 (due January 26) -  Somewhere in the U.S., a woman named
   Janet Jackson is often confused with the singer of the same name.
   The incarcerated Janet Jackson is serving natural life.
   In what prison is the incarcerated Janet Jackson?
   (3 points)
