Read this story about the juvenile girls who
fabricated a story about an abduction as an excuse to avoid punishment.
Then, address the following as an ESSAY (not as a bullet-point short
answer response to the questions).
1) On a scale of 1 to 10, did they cause a serious social harm?
2) What kinds of UCR/FBI Index crimes might result in similar harms
to a victim? (eg, are the consequences to the victim equivalent to
a violent crime? A burgarly? Drugs?)
3) What should be the punishment for these girls?
4) If you were a policy maker who took lots of sociological theory,
which theory would you use to identify an appropriate "social response?"
