The presentations will be given in class (Hoffman Estates) on May 5. We
will meet at 6:30 and go until about 9:30 (as needed to finish, so the
final session could extend by a few minuts)
The presentations are intended to allow you to display what you've learned
during the term on a given topic. They should be focused, completed,
and for a few minutes on May 5, you will be the "expert" on your topic.
You may use your paper as the basis or a different topic that interests
you.
FORMAT:
The presentations will be made in groups of 4 or 5 people, and grouped
around broad themes (eg, "juvenile justice," "causes of crime" or whatever
else seems to allow basic ideas to be integrated into a coherent theme).
The format will be like a conference session:
--the "panel" will get about a 20 to 25 minutes, and each presenter
will lay out their theme for about 5 minutes. An "organizer"
will give a brief 1-2 minute intro and a 1-2 minute concluding
comment that integrates the papers at the start and at the finish.
--There will be 5-10 minutes for class questions to the panel
--the next panel will go up after the first is done.
--you can use your teams (but no more than 5 people). Team
leaders WILL NOT participate in group conferences; Three team
leaders and I will conclude with a session of our own.
There will be a conference on the presentations on WebBoard for
further clarification.
