SOCIOLOGY 495: INSIDE PRISONS

This class is an experimental class designed as an interdisciplinary course for students with 
an advanced interest in the operation of prisons, including security, administration, 
programs and post-release. The course will be organized around field trips, but also 
includes reading and writing assighments and other activities. It is designed to integrate 
practical hands-on experiences with academic exercises.

Although there will be no regular class meetings, there will be a requirement of at least 
4 fieldtrips (or a functional equivalent), in addition to interaction at special meetings and 
on WebBoard.

Prerequisites:  Soci 388 OR Soci 587 OR NIU-ACA membership OR by permission
