Credit hours: 3 Instructor: Jim Thomas Class meetings: variable Phone: (815) 753-6436 Prison trips: (variable; at least 8 anticipated) This class is an experimental class designed as an interdisciplinary course for students with an advanced interest in the operation of prisons, including security, administration, programs and post-release. The course will be organized around field trips, but also includes reading and writing assighments and other activities. It is designed to integrate practical hands-on experiences with academic exercises. Although there will be no regular class meetings, there will be a requirement of at least 4 fieldtrips (or a functional equivalent), in addition to interaction at special meetings and on WebBoard.
