We have done the ideology quiz below (if you haven't, be sure to do it
by class time):

Some crime stats

 --Address the following questions:
   a) What are the trends in violent crime and property crime?
   b) What would you predict the impact would be of these crimes on
      courts and prisons?
   c) To what social factors would you attribute these trends?
   d) What percentage does street crime comprise of all felonies? (Google 
      the FBI UCR (Uniform Crime Reports) if you're not sure what street 
      crime is) 
      is 

Then, we will address on the history of law and our own systems. Just 
skim the following. The question: Where do the principles of our own 
system come from?

A few questions:
  --dig up a copy of the Bill of Rights from the US Constitution. Which
    provisions come from the Magna Carta?
  --We think that our own system is unique. Is it? (for this, take a 
    look at the Iroquois constitution and do some googling of other systems)

I will have questions for group discussion class, but for now, read
the historical material with this in mind: How does our CJ system
reject a PROCESS rather than a THING?
