May 17, 1992 A prostitute who admitted killing seven middle-aged men who picked her up hitchhiking on Florida highways was sentenced to death Friday for three of the slayings. "Thank you. I'll go to heaven now and you all will rot in hell," Aileen Wuornos said after Judge Thomas Sawaya handed down the sentences. Wuornos, 36, had said earlier that she wants to be executed as soon as possible. Wuornos read an hourlong statement Friday. She complained the treatment she received was "sending society a message that a woman who defends herself is likely to end up on Death Row . . . they're saying that male dominance is OK and woe be tothe woman who takes action against a violent man." Friday's sentencings were for the killings of Dick Humphreys, Troy Burress and David Spears in the summer of 1990. Wuornos also was sentenced to death in Januaryfor killing Richard Mallory.
