Reiman and Weber

DUE DATE: NO LATER THAN CLASS TIME, WEEK OF APRIL 21
WHAT: REIMAN AND WEBER
LENGTH: 6 to 8 (about 1,500+ words)
POINTS: Up to 30

For earlier assignments at the start of the term, you read Max Weber
on Objectivity of Social Science and Social Policy, and Gregg Barack
on integrating criminology theories.

You have also read Reiman's Rich get Richer this month.

In this paper, you should re-read them all and address the following:

Reiman has an ideological perspective. He tries to get around this, in
part, by integrating several perspectives to maintain a theoretical
focus.

Discuss whether Reiman violates or conforms to Weber's thesis of maintaining
objectivity in light of his explicit ideological stance. If you think he
violates it, fully explain how and then discuss how he could have proceeded
from his perspectie more "objectively," while holding to his agenda.

If you think he meets Weber's criteria, explained how he managed it.

The trick in this paper is to demonstrate that you understand and can
apply the themes raised in Weber, Reiman, the Ideology discussion and Bark.
