Guidelines for Short Papers

Here are some PAPER TOPICS

The general guidelines:

Take a look at How to read material

Every two weeks or so, I will offer paper topics. You MUST do at least
two of them and submit them by the deadline. You may do more than two
if you wish to replace a paper grade that you didn't like. For example,
if you had a 30 on one and wanted a higher grade, you can do another
and submit it to try for a higher grade to replace the 30 point grade.
You can also do extra papers for extra credit, but extra credit papers
are not worth 50 points, only up to 25.

Basic instructions:

1) Each paper will be about 5 to 6 pages, or about 1,200 words.
THEY MUST REFLECT AN UNDERSTANDING OF THE THEORETICAL ISSUES INVOLVED!

2) The papers MUST BE original - that is they must be your own ideas.
To NOT plagiarize or cut/paste from Web sources. Papers that are
cut-and-paste will be given a zero.

3) Although you may develop your own ideas, I will occasionally suggest
paper topics in class and on webboard.

4) The paper structure will be provided in the assignment, but basically
it's the structure of any paper: Coherent introduction, body, and
conclusion, and cite your sources.
