Possible Paper Topics - Fall 2002

The four short papers will be due on the following dates.
Each paper is due NO LATER THAN:

PAPER 1: Due Thursday Sept 26

Here are some tips for possible paper topics (I will had a few more each
week):

1) Write a book critique of Durkheim's SUICIDE (can't do this if you
   used it for extra credit

2) Compare and contrast any three of the 4 assigned readings on
   library reserve for the Functionalist session

3) Do a paper on Comte, Montesquie, or Spencer

4) Explain how Comte influenced Durkheim (you MUST read some original
   sources for each)

5) Durkheim was accused of being a sexist. Was he?

6) Compare and contrast functionalism and conflict theory.

PAPER 3: Thursday Nov 7

PAPER 4: Tuesday, Nov 26 (Paper 4 WILL NOT be accepted after Dec 3).
