Readings for Monday, February 4 

1) Review the ideology material we discussed. There will be class
discussion and it will be integrated into lecture and group
discussion.

2) Check out: Some crime stats

 --Address the following questions:
   a) What are the trends in violent crime and property crime?
   b) What would you predict the impact would be of these crimes on
      courts and prisons?
   c) To what social factors would you attribute these trends?
   d) What percentage does street crime comprise of all felonies? (Google 
      the FBI UCR (Uniform Crime Reports) if you're not sure what street 
      crime is) 
      is 
   e) What THEORY would you use to account for the changes?
