There will be over 100 points worth of assignments given for this class. I will give them out every week or two. The point value for each will vary between 10-25 points. NOTE: SOME ARE REQUIRED! YOU *MUST* DO THEM OR YOU WILL BE DOCKED 10 POINTS. That means to get your 100 points on this component, you must then earn 110. It doesn't matter whether a *required* assignment is worth 5 or 25 points: The penalty is still 10 points. You can, of course, make it up with the non-required assignments. The trick is to get assignments done early in the semester. You may do as many as you like, but you can earn up to, but no more than, 100 points. For example, if you receive the maximum 25 points on four assignments, you have topped out. However, if you receive 10 points (of 25, or a low F) on four assignments (for 40 points), you may do additional assignments to increase your point total. Conceivably, you could fail each individual assignment but still get an A on this component if you amass enough points. You can do as many assignments as you wish. This will allow you to beef up your points, because you can add anything in excess of 100 points for this component to your total score. "REQUIRED" means, of course, REQUIRED. Don't be deceived by the seeming simplicity of the exercises. The trick is to tease out nuances and do a bit of thought beyond the obvious.
